Chris Taylor (born 13 June 1950, passed 30 June 1979) was an American wrestler who achieved great success during his career. He is best known for his innovative techniques and his ability to perform aerial maneuvers, which earned him the nickname "The Innovator". Taylor was also a gifted amateur wrestler, winning several national and international championships. He represented the United States at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, where he placed fifth in the freestyle wrestling competition.
Taylor began his wrestling career at the age of 12. He quickly rose through the ranks, winning several state and regional championships. In 1969, he won the National Junior Championships and was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament. Taylor continued his success at the collegiate level, winning the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships in 1971 and 1972. He was also a member of the U.S. National Wrestling Team from 1970 to 1974.
After graduating from college, Taylor turned professional. He quickly became one of the most popular wrestlers in the world, known for his exciting and innovative style. Taylor won several major titles, including the NWA World Heavyweight Championship and the AWA World Heavyweight Championship. He also headlined several major pay-per-view events.
Taylor's career was cut short when he was involved in a car accident in 1979. He died from his injuries at the age of 29. Despite his short career, Taylor left a lasting legacy on the sport of wrestling. He is considered one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, and his techniques are still used by wrestlers today.
