Minnesota Families To Receive Up To $2600 In Tax Rebates

Department of Revenue Announces Process For Sending One-Time Payments

The Minnesota Department of Revenue announced today the process to send 2.4 million one-time tax rebate payments. The rebates, adding up to about $1 billion, are part of legislation signed by Democratic Gov. Tim Walz in May to return a portion of a projected $17.6 billion surplus to taxpayers.

The rebates will be sent to Minnesota families who filed 2021 taxes by Oct. 15, 2022. The amount of the rebate will vary depending on the filer's income and filing status.

Single filers with incomes up to $75,000 will receive a $250 rebate. Married couples filing jointly with incomes up to $150,000 will receive a $500 rebate. Families with children will receive an additional $200 per child, up to a maximum of three children.

The rebates will be sent via direct deposit or check. The Department of Revenue expects to start sending the rebates in August.
