Mark Meadows Testifies in Georgia Election Interference Probe
Former Chief of Staff Cooperating with Special Counsel
Meadows Surrenders to Fulton County Jail
ATLANTA - Former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows testified in a federal courtroom in Georgia on Monday as part of a probe into election interference by Donald Trump and his allies. Meadows is cooperating with Special Counsel Jack Smith's team, which is investigating the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot and Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 election results.
Meadows also surrendered to Fulton County jail on Monday in connection with the Georgia investigation into Trump's alleged efforts to pressure state officials to change the outcome of the election. Meadows has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
The testimony and surrender come as the investigations into Trump's actions intensify. The January 6th Committee has held public hearings and released evidence of Trump's attempts to overturn the election. The Fulton County investigation is focused on Trump's alleged phone calls to Georgia officials and his efforts to appoint electors who would vote for him.
Meadows' cooperation could provide key insights into Trump's role in these events. As Trump's chief of staff, he was a close advisor and witness to many of the president's activities.
